We drove from Rome to Herculaneum (Ercolaneum) and then to Pompeii. Overnight we are in Sorrento. Pompeii and Herculaneum were both destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in August of 79 AD. They each suffered different deaths and so the remains are somewhat different. Herculaneum was smaller and possibly richer while Pompeii had almost 20,000 residents at the time of the eruption. The sights were amazing, enjoy the photos.
